Mini, Normal or Magna Cordis - which family do you need?

The right Cordis family comes down to how much oil your engine needs to move: engine capacity, maximum engine speed, whether it’s turbocharged, and whether it runs piston cooling jets all raise the demand. As a rule of thumb from our flow rate guide:

1 to 4 stages, pressure and scavenge

A dry sump pump combines a pressure stage (feeding the engine, with an optional adjustable Pressure Relief Valve for accurate fine-tuning at installation) with one or more scavenge stages pulling oil and air out of the sump back to the tank. A typical set-up is one pressure stage plus one scavenge per crankcase section: 1 stage for scavenge-only or simple pressure duties, 2 stage and 3 stage for most dry sump conversions, and 4 stage for engines that need maximum scavenging.

Built and tested in-house

Every Cordis pump is machined from lightweight aerospace-grade billet aluminium, in black or silver anodised finish, with short or long drive-nose options to suit your pulley layout. Each pump is individually run on our in-house oil pump test rig and supplied with a unique test datasheet linked to its serial number, so it arrives ready to install with only minor PRV adjustment required.

Complete your dry sump system

The pump is only half the job - it needs to be driven at the right speed. Our pulley & belt calculator works out the oil pump pulley tooth count, L-section belt and tension settings for your engine. We also stock dry sump oil tanks, pulleys, belts and fittings, and if your project needs something out of the ordinary, our custom pump assemblies cover bespoke bracketry, filtration and configurations we don’t stock off the shelf.
